Amr Moussa denies calling Qadhafi a 'donkey'
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Sunday denied press reports claiming he called Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi a "donkey."
The Egyptian Sawt al-Umma newspaper had on Saturday quoted Moussa as calling the Libyan leader a donkey in response to the latter saying he bribed Moussa with a car worth 42,000 euros.
Moussa's office announced that the car donated by Qadhafi was given to Moussa in his official, not personal, capacity, and that it was added to the other cars owned by the league.
The newspaper also quoted Qadhafi as saying Moussa used to receive money from Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and use his private plane for his trips.
“I challenge Qadhafi to prove I took money from Hariri,” Moussa said. “And all Arab leaders allowed me in my capacity to use their planes for single-day trips, including Qadhafi himself.”
“Qadhafi used to not pay Libya’s contribution to the league until the last summit,” Moussa said. “We managed to make him pay with great difficulty.”
