Bin Laden's death is not the end of terrorism: Brazilian officials

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Osama Bin Laden's death is in no way the end of terrorism, a Brazilian government official warned on Thursday.

Marco Aurelio Garcia, President Dilma Rousseff's special advisor for international affairs, said that in order to completely dismantle terrorist organizations such as Bin Laden's al-Qaida, it is necessary to deal with the causes of terrorism. "Whoever thinks Bin Laden's death can solve the problem of terrorism is very much mistaken. The problem of terrorism is only can be solved by attacking the causes of terrorism," he said.

He also pointed that the establishment of a Palestinian state would contribute a lot to the end of terrorism.

"I think we will have a democratic way, if we manage to solve several problems in the region, such as the Palestinian matter," he said.

Like many observers in the world, Garcia believes there will be retaliation for Bin Laden's death in the hands of the U.S. military. He did not comment on U.S. President Barack Obama's recent decision not to disclose Bin Laden's postmortem pictures.
