Barack Obama to hold Af-Pak situation room meeting

US President Barack Obama will hold his monthly situation room meeting on the current situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the backdrop of killing of a Pakistani cabinet minister and deteriorating US-Pak relationship in the context of the Raymond Davis case.

The meeting to be chaired by Obama would be attended by his top national security advisers.

Prominent among them include US Vice President Joe Biden, secretary of state Hillary Clinton, defence secretary Robert Gates, national security advisor Tom Donilon, Director of national intelligence James Clapper, CIA director Leon Panetta and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen.

The US ambassadors to Afghanistan and Pakistan, besides its top commander in Afghanistan Gen David Petreaeus will join the meeting through video conference.

The new Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Mark Grossman, who is travelling, would join the conference through video conference.

The situation room meeting is being held in the back drop of the assassination of Pakistan's Minorities Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti in Islamabad - an issue which is expected to come up for discussion, besides the case of Raymond Davis, a US diplomat who has been arrested in Pakistan on charges of killing two people.
