Clinton seeks AU help on Libya

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton said on Thursday that Africa is of "great significance" to the Obama administration and the U.S. seeks African Union's assistance on the issue of Libya.

Clinton made the remarks at the press conference ahead of the meeting with visiting African Union (AU) Chairman Jean Ping.

She said the U.S. has "every intention" to broaden and deepen relationship "not only bilaterally with" countries but also with the AU.

"In addition, we seek the African Union's assistance in arriving at a political solution in Libya," Clinton added.

Ping is in Washington to attend the second annual U.S.-AU high- level dialogue.
