Russia: Baby "Facebook"

Pravda

PJ: The US is often criticized and sometimes hated for its foreign policy. But American freedoms that include sought after products and celebrities are often met with great affection in some of the most hostile regimes. From Marilyn Monroe to Elvis, to Levis (jeans) and now Facebook, "American Made" might just be the best ambassadors the country can offer.

Egyptian parents name their daughter Facebook Jamal Ibrahim

Jamal Ibrahim, in his twenties, has named his daughter "Facebook" Jamal Ibrahim after the social networking website, Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reports.

An English translation of the newspaper article reads, "The girl's family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook." The article adds, "Facebook" received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name -- a name that shocked the entire world," according to Techtree.com.

Jamal Ibrahim named his firstborn daughter Facebook in an effort "to express his gratitude" for the victory of Egypt's youth over the autocratic regime. We hope Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will remember to send something nice for the baby shower.

About five million Egyptians are on Facebook and in the days and weeks leading up to mass antigovernment protests thousands of them planned rallies on the social network. In addition, more than 32,000 Facebook groups were created by various opposition activists and movements following the revolution, Fudzilla reports.
