UK: In England, Romney criticises UK Olympic readiness and questions British people's enthusiasm

PJ:  First his staff bashes the sitting US President (Story originally in The Telegraph--here's another version from Ireland:  http://www.irishcentral.com/story/news/periscope/mitt-romney-aides-criticize-obama-for-not-singing-british-imperialist-song----in-interview-they-claim--romney-the-one-of-true-anglo-saxon-heritage-163832096.html ), now during his UK visit he bashes the British Olympic effort.  If someone running against Cameron came to the US and overtly critcised the sitting Prime Minister would Americans find that a bit unsavory?  If that same politician knocked the way that the US was conducting itself in say their own Olympic endeavour wouldn't that be considered the least bit rude?

I was recently in the UK, visiting the village where I had spent many happy years.  The Olympic Torch was scheduled to come through town the next day so bright and early the next morning I wandered out to take part in the excitment.  The streets were already lined with people...people of every age waving flags and showing a pride in their country...a pride in their country hosting the Olympics. But according to this article, Mr. Romney questions that enthusiasm:

In the interview he also called into question whether the British people were behind the Games.
"Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the Games actually begin," he said.

Not very Statesman like!   Is this what can be expected with Romney diplomacy?

Mitt Romney questions London's readiness for Olympic Games

US presidential candidate points to 'disconcerting signs' including G4S scandal and threatened border officials' strike

The US presidential candidate Mitt Romney has questioned the readiness of London 2012, saying there have been "disconcerting signs" in the buildup to the Games – but said the focus would soon switch to celebrating the athletes.

Before meetings with David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband on Thursday, he told US television: "It is hard to know just how well it will turn out."

Romney told NBC News: "There are a few things that were disconcerting. The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials – that obviously is not something which is encouraging."

In the interview he also called into question whether the British people were behind the Games.
"Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the Games actually begin," he said.
