Republicana non grata: Where in the world is Sarah Palin?

Ms. Palin could have done the legwork to serve as a delegate herself, but, as the state’s Republican party chairman, Randy Ruedrich, told me, “She didn’t participate in any of our process.”

Mr. Ruedrich, an oil-drilling man, allowed that Ms. Palin’s fame and infamy might have led to a small spike in tourism — “Maybe some folks saw her and decided to take that trip they’d always dreamt of” — but that blip had been snowed under by the Great Recession anyway.
