'The Republican Party welcomes looks in a woman - Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Nikki Haley - and so does Fox'

Secrets of the 'Fox Glam': One woman lifts the lid on the network's bold make-up look

By Tamara Abraham

Ms Mundy's poll of women who work on TV news shows revealed some opinions of the Fox signature look that were so acerbic, they refused to reveal their names for fear of losing their jobs.

One likened the look to that of a pageant queen, another called it 'glamour nighttime', and a third added that 'at Fox, they look very painted'.

One publicist admitted that a client's face was brushed with so much bronzer, 'she looked like a female George Hamilton.'

Of course, the 'Fox Glam' does have its fans. There are YouTube montages that pay tribute to female anchors' legs alone, while the website Foxnewsgirls.com pays an individual homage to each and every one.

Ms Mundy's article suggests that Fox is catering to the tastes of its Republican-heavy audience.
