Clint Eastwood speech at the Republican Convention: what people are saying online about that empty chair

People can't stop making jokes about Clint Eastwood who shared the stage with an empty chair at the Republican Convention on Thursday

The most talked-about part of the Clint Eastwood speech was a rambling dialogue with an empty chair that was supposed to represent US president Barack Obama.

The Washington Post has a full transcript of the Clint Eastwood speech.

More than few people thought the Eastwood speech played well in the room. CNN noted that he "sent the crowd into laughing fits when he pretended Obama was offering colorful objections."

The speech may have played differently to viewers at home, so much so that at least one Republican described it as "maybe a little bit of a distraction."

The New Yorker's Andy Borowitz joked that Romney is now trailing an empty chair in the polls.
